Police Blotter: Three Robberies, a Teenage Attack and Tax Problems

Robbery at Knife-Point

A 25-year-old woman was robbed by a knife-wielding man who demanded she give up her iPhone as she left a grocery store near the corner of Prospect Place and Franklin Avene late Sunday night.

“Take the phone out of your pocket,” the man ordered as he grabbed her hood from behind with a knife as she left the store at 11:10 p.m., according to a police report.

The man snatched the phone and ran soutbound on Franklin Avenue He is described as a 40-year-old black man, standing 5-foot-6 with short hair.

 

Women Robbed on Vanderbilt

Two women had just come out of a bar on Vanderbilt Avenue near Bergen Street when they were attacked and robbed by two men early Monday morning.

One of the women, 31, was struck in the face and had her wallet lifted, while the other woman, 30, had her cell phone violently snatched from ear as she was talking on it, according to a police report.

Cops describe one of the attackers as a black man with dreadlocks, standing 5-foot-10 and wearing a sweater or vest. The other was described only as wearing a waist-length, black jacket.

 

Woman Robbed at Bank ATM

A quick cash grab was made inside the Chase Bank on Flatbush Ave. near Grand Army Plaza when a woman turned away from the ATM to help her child.

The 24-year-old woman went to pick up something her child had dropped and someone swooped in and swiped $420 she had withdrawn from the cash dispenser just before 1:30 p.m. on Feb. 8, according to a police report.

Cops described the thief as a black man with short hair, standing 5-foot-9 and weighing 180 pounds.


Teenager Attacked

A pack of female teens beat up a 16-year-old girl as she walked home from school.

The teen was walking on Prospect Place and Grand Avenue just after 2:15 p.m. on Feb. 8 when three girls approached her and one started asking her questions.

The confrontation quickly turned violent when the three teens started kicking and punching the victim, who was later treated at Long Island College Hospital.

All three attackers, a 16-year-old and two 15-year-olds, were busted and charged with assault. The cause of the fight was not immediately known.

 

Tax Invasion

A 28-year-old man is claiming identity theft after he learned his taxes were filed—but neither he nor his accountant did the paperwork.

The Bergen Street man, who reported the incident to police on Feb. 12, went to prepare his annual tax return, but was informed by his accountant that someone had already filed on his behalf, according to the police report.

The victim flagged the apparent financial finagling to the Internal Revenue Service and said someone had used his personal information on the forms.
