Car Break-in Nets $10,000 Prize

A thief hit the jackpot when he broke into a car parked on Sterling Place near Washington Avenue Monday and grabbed the three suitcases inside, according to a police report.

The 36-year-old driver left the car parked at noon and came back 30 minutes later to find the driver’s door damaged. She had just picked up her mother at the airport and the suitcases were loaded with cash and expensive clothes. The thief made off with $10,000 in cash and nearly $2,000 worth of other items, including a Bose radio worth $500, a gold watch worth $175, two cell phones worth $150 each and $1,250 in suits and other clothing, according to the report.

Knifepoint Stick-Up Near Brooklyn Public Library

A man held up a 16-year-old at knifepoint next to the Central Library Monday morning, according to a police report.

The mustachioed thug walked up to the teen at about 8:45 a.m. and asked him what he was listening to on his iPhone 4 . When the teen said “Nothing,” the man, who was wearing a both a green sweatshirt and green sneakers, pulled out a knife, grabbed the phone and took off, according to the report.

 

Reefer Bust

If you’re smoking a joint and see the cops, don’t try to destroy it, it apparently only makes things worse.

A 47-year-old man was arrested at the corner of Franklin and Atlantic avenues April 26 on charges of tampering with physical evidence after he tore up the marijuana cigarette he was smoking, according to a police report.

 

Bike Nabbed

A bike chained on Eastern Parkway between Washington and Underhill avenues was stolen Sunday, according to a police report.

A 54-year-old man told cops he chained a $400 Trek mountain bike to a lamppost at 1 p.m., and when he returned at 3:30 p.m., the bike was gone, according to the report.
