Police Blotter: Burglary, Assault and More

A roundup of crimes committed in the 77th Precinct.

The following information was supplied by the 77th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Burglary

A business located on Grand Avenue and Dean Street was the scene of an attempted burglary around 10 p.m. on Sept. 9. The burglar forced his way through an entry gate then made his way through a second locked gate. He then proceeded to enter through the rear of a tractor trailor in an attempt to steal it. He exited the way he came in and a 42-year-old man was arrested on the scene.

A Robbery

A 26-year-old woman was the victim of a robbery in her apartment located on Lincoln Place and Underhill Avenue. She returned home to find her door open at 8:30 p.m. on Sept. 9. There was no forced entry and the thief made off with $2,440 worth of items. They included a laptop ($100), pearl earrings ($100), and an acoustic guitar ($1,500).

An Assault

A 5-year-old boy was assaulted by his father at 10:30 p.m. on Sept. 10. The boy was struck in the head by his father with his closed fist inside their home on Park Place and Classon Avenue. The child had a lamp in his hand and the force of the punch caused the lamp to hit the child in the head, causing a laceration to his forehead. The 48-year-old father was arrested after the mother reported the incident.

Bike Theft and Assault

On the night of Sept. 12, around 9 p.m., a 25-year-old man noticed his bike was stolen from in front of a deli on the northeast corner of Park Place and Washington Avenue. The victim observed the three thieves with the bike and confronted them. The victim was punched in the face and slashed on the left side of his face with an unknown object. He suffered injuries including a long laceration. The victim was taken to Woodhull Hospital for treatment.
