Police Blotter: Biker Injured in Hit-and-Run and Man Found With Stab Wounds on Bergen Street

St. Johns Place Bicycle Hit-and-Run

Police are looking for a hit-and-run driver who plowed into a bicyclist and took off.

The 24-year-old biker was riding on St. Johns Place near Plaza Street East at about 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, when a man driving a red truck made a left turn and hit him, causing cuts and bruises to the man’s left leg, both arms and his left side. The bicyclist was evaluated by EMS but refused to go to the hospital, according to a police report.

 

Man Found Stabbed on Bergen Street

A 23-year-old man was discovered on Bergen Street between Classon and Grand avenues with a stab wound on his left side below his ribcage. The victim, who was discovered at 2:10 p.m. on Friday, May 18, was unwilling to give information about the attack to the police. He was taken to Kings County Hospital with what appeared to be non-lethal wounds, according to a police report.

 

Bodega Window Smash

Someone broke the plate glass window at a bodega on Franklin Avenue just off  Eastern Parkway at about 4:30 p.m. on Monday, May 14, resulting in $400 worth of damage, according to a police report.

 

Prospect Place Car Break-In

A 23-year-old woman reported that someone broke a window in her car and stole a bicycle pump worth about $50. The break-in took place while the car was parked on Prospect Place between Classon and Franklin avenues between 7 p.m. on Friday, May 18 and 3:30 p.m. the following day, according to a police report.   

 

Dean Street Vandalism

A 66-yers-old man discovered at about 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 17, that someone damaged the lock on the front door of his home, which is located on Dean Street between Vanderbilt and Underhill avenues, according to a police report.
