A roundup of crime from the 77th Precinct

The following information was supplied by the 77th Precinct of the NYPD. It does not indicate a conviction.

Purse Theft

A 64-year-old woman had her purse swiped as she sat it down on the steps in front of her building, located on Prospect Pl. and Washington Ave. The incident took place on September 12 around 6:20pm. She walked away to use the payphone on the corner and discovered her $75 purse missing upon return, which also contained $50 in cash. A canvas of the immediate area came up with no results.

Robbery

Four brazen thieves followed a 27-year-old man into his building and forced their way into his apartment at 1:15pm on Wednesday, September 14. The thieves tied up the man and his brother with a cord. They were both repeatedly threatened to be killed, while one perp a handgun. They made off with the items by force and fled in an unknown direction. Items totaling $1,650 were taken including $700 cash, 2 laptops ($350), an IPod ($250) and a cell phone ($350).

Grand Theft

A 68-year-old woman was convinced by an unknown man to withdraw $600 from her bank account at 11:30pm on Wednesday, September 14. She returned home on Sterling Pl. and Classon Ave. with the man and he asked where her jewelry was located. He took both the money and jewelry and told the woman not to tell anyone. She was unable to identify the man who walked away with $5100 worth of goods including $600 cash, a gold bracelet with "Patsy" written on it, gold rings ($1,000), gold chain ($2,000) and gold jingles ($1,000).

Approached from Behind

As a 23-year-old woman was walking home, she was approached from behind on Prospect Pl. and Classon Ave. at 4:40pm on Thursday September 15. He showed her a gun and told her, "give it all to me." He stole several items totaling $300 and fled west on Prospect Pl. across Franklin Ave. An immediate canvas of the area produced negative results. He stole her Blackberry phone ($100) and a Dooney and Bourke purse ($200), which contained her license.
