Police Blotter: Attack and Police Chase on St. Johns Place

Burglary on St. Johns Place

A thief broke into an apartment on St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington and stole two apple laptops worth a total of $7,422. The break-in took place on Saturday, May 12, between 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m., according to a police report.

Attack and Police Chase

A 62-year-old man was walking on Franklin Avenue near St. Johns Place when the two men, aged 18 and 19, attacked him, with one of them holding him by the collar while the other punched him in the face. When cops on patrol tried to the men, one of them jumped a fence behind a house on Johns Place, broke two windows and climbed into the building. Then he kicked open a door hitting a second person in the face before police caught up with him.  The attack took place on Monday, May 7, at about 7:40 p.m., according to a police report. The report does not indicate the men’s motive.

 

Multiple Bike Thefts

- A 37-year-old woman reported that someone stole a Bamboo brand bicycle and other property worth a total of $1,000 from her apartment on Sterling Place between Classon and Franklin avenues. The theft took place between 7 a.m. on April 30 and midnight on May 3, according to a police report.

- A 24-year-old woman reported that her Huffy bicycle and lock, worth total of $340, were stolen from where it was locked overnight on St. Marks Avenue between Underhill and Washington between May 9 and May 10, according to a police report.

- A 52-year-old woman discovered on May 10 that her bicycle worth $350 was stolen out of a parking garage on St. Marks Avenue between Classon and Franklin after she left it locked there for two months, according to a police report.
