Police Blotter: A $3,000 Purse Snatch and Man Pistol Whipped

$3,000 Purse Snatch

A thief stole $3,000 from a 79-year-old woman after following her from an ATM.

The woman withdrew $2,000 from the Chase Bank at the corner of Bedford Avenue and Eastern Parkway. When she reached Eastern Parkway and Franklin Avenue, at 2:35 p.m. on April 13, the man grabbed her purse, which also held her ATM card and the access number. The woman returned to the bank and was told that someone had stolen $1,000 from her account, according to a police report.

 

Cash Clash Leads to Pistol Whipping

A man hit a 40-year-old man was hit by another man in the head with a gun, causing him to bleed after the pair had an argument over money. The attack took place on Pacific Street between Classon and Franklin avenues at 9:45 p.m. on April 14.

 

$6 Bodega Theft

A bodega clerk called police after a woman stole three bottles of Bacardi worth $6 from the cooler. The theft took place at grocery store on Franklin Avenue between Lincoln and St. Johns places at about 5 p.m. on April 9. 

 

Angry Customer Damages $300 Beer Display

A customer at Bob and Betty’s Food Market became irate after a clerk questioned him about something and damaged a beer display worth about $300. When the 38-year-old clerk tried to stop the man he was injured inured in his arms, but refused medical attention. The report did not indicate what the cleark asked the customer about. The attack took place at 805 Franklin Avenue at 11:50 p.m. on April 14.

 

Doctor’s Office Wallet Snatch

A 52-year-old woman discovered that her wallet was stolen while she was at a Prospect Place doctor’s office. The woman only had $25 in cash, but her credit and debit cards were taken and the thief tried unsuccessfully to use the debit card at an ATM shortly after the wallet disappeared. The theft took place between 3:20 p.m. and 3:45 p.m. on April 9.
