Police Blotter: Woman Fights Carjacker, Bar Thefts, Bike Stolen, More

Woman Fights off Carjacker

A 40-year-old woman sitting in a parked car in the middle of a Sunday morning when a man tried—and failed—to steal her ride.

She was parked on St. Marks Avenue between Flatbush and Carlton on Oct. 16 at 10:15 a.m. when a man of about 30 reached into the window grabbed her, saying “give me the keys (expletive).”

The woman fought him off and the man ran away.

 

Double Bar Theft

A $500 leather jacket and a tote bag were stolen at Branded Saloon on the same night.

A 33-year-old man said he left his vintage black coat on a hook in the back of the bar at about 9:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16. When he went back just after 11 p.m. it was gone.

The same night, a 52-year-old man said he left a white canvas tote bag with a cartoon picture of a mathematician on it at the back of the bar at about 8:45 p.m. He checked back for it at 9:15 and found it missing.

 

Bike Theft

A thief stole a bicycle from the corner of Park Place and Vanderbilt on Oct. 17. A 34-year-old woman said she left the bike locked to a street pole at 2:45 p.m. When she got back an hour later the $400 Trek 820 was gone.

 

Car Theft

A 2002 Huyndi Elantra with was stolen from the corner of Park Place and Classon Avenue sometime between Monday Oct. 17 an Wednesday, Oct. 19.
