Police Blotter: $31K Burglary and License Plate Thefts Continue

$31K Burglary on St. Johns Place

A 26-year-old man reported that someone broke into is apartment on St. Johns Place between Underhill and Washington and stole $31,475 worth of electronics including a Canon 7D camera, three high end lenses and a microphone. The man discovered the burglary on June 27 at 5 p.m., according to a police report.

More License Plate Thefts

There were at least two more license plate thefts in the past few weeks, according to police reports.

A 40-year-old man reported noticed his license plate was missing after it was parked on Carlton Avenue between St. Marks and Bergen on June 25, and a woman reported tht someone stole both front and back license plate off her car which was parked on St. Marks Avenue at Grand avenue on July 8 or July 9. At least eight people have reported license plate thefts since April.

 

Airbag Thefts Continue

At least two more airbags were stolen from cars, according to police reports.

A 63-year-old woman reported that someone smashed her the window of her Ford Fusion and stole the steering-wheel airbag, which would cost $617 plus labor to replace. The theft took place while the car was parked on Sterling Place between Vanderbilt and Butler between June 24 and 26, and a man reported that someone broke his car’s window and took the airbag sometime on July 8 or 9 while the car was parked on the same block, according to police reports. 

On June 7, a man reported that and the hubcaps from his GMC while it swas parked on Park Place between Vanderbilt and Underhill avenues
