Man Locks 5-Year-Old in Car for 90 Minutes to Go Drinking

Boy found on Butler Place crying in back seat at 11:15 p.m., police said.

 

A man was arrested on charges of leaving his 5-year-old in his car at night for more than an hour while he was drinking at a restaurant.

The 42-year-old man allegedly left his son sleeping in the back seat of his car, which was parked on Butler Place just off Grand Army Plaza at 9:45 p.m. on Saturday, March 23, according to a police report.

He went to a restaurant two blocks away and at 11:15 p.m., the boy's mother found him in the cr crying. When cops arrived, the man, who appeared to be drunk, told police he couldn't remember where he had parked.

He was charged with endangering the welfare of a child, the report said.
