Fire on Classon Avenue and Park Place

There were no injuries from 10th floor apartment blaze, but fire marshalls will be investigating the cause, an FDNY spokesman said.

A fire broke out in an apartment on the 10th floor of 753 Classon Ave. near Park Place just after 5 p.m. this evening.

There were no injuries from the blaze, which never spread from the apartment of the 12-story building, an FDNY spokesman said. 

About 60 firefighters fought the flames, and the fire was put under control at 5:26 p.m.

The blaze has been deemed suspicious enough to send it to fire marshalls for investigation, the spokesman said. He could not immediately say what factors made the fire suspicious.
