Cops Hunting for Suspect in Rash of Area Bank Robberies

Police are on the hunt for the thug suspected of robbing at least 15 banks since December in Brooklyn and Queens—including three in Park Slope.

The three Park Slope robberies occurred in January and June at neighborhood Chase Banks. In the first, , the would-be thief entered the Chase Bank on Fifth Avenue and 14th Street, passed a note to a teller demanding money, and then fled the scene without receiving any cash.

Just four days later, the crook tried to pull the same stunt at the Chase Bank on , again coming up empty.

The robber resurfaced again in the neighborhood on June 23, attempting to rob the Chase Bank at Fifth Avenue and Degraw Street.

Cops says the suspect is a black or Hispanic man, standing between 5-foot-9 and 6-foot-1 in his 20s or 30s. He wears a baseball cap or hat, scarf or bandanna, sunglasses, gloves, a hooded jacket, and work boots.

Police could not say whether the incident might be related to  at the Sovereign Bank on Prospect Park West, in which a thief made off with $7000. 

There were also bank robberies on , and on  in June, but arrests have been made in both those cases, police said.
