UPDATE: Man Injured in Atlantic Avenue Hit-and-Run Hangs Onto Life

Cops still hunting driver who fled scene after hitting man at Franklin Avenue in Crown Heights.

UPDATE: June 8, 5:47 p.m. The man is still alive, according to the NYPD.

UPDATE: June 6, 7:25 a.m.: According to the NYPD as of 6:02 a.m. the man  "is still listed in extremely critical condition."

Cops have also confirmed that the vehicle was a white Jaguar, and that the victim is 51.

At 2 a.m. the NYPD had mistakenly reported that the man had died due to "serious head trauma."

A man is at Kings County Hospital in critical condition after a hit-and-run accident on Atlantic Avenue at Franklin.

The man, who appeared to be in his 40s, was hit just before 9:13 p.m., police and fire officials said. He was taken to Kings County Hospital.

The car that hit the man is "possibly a Jaguar," police said, adding that it is light colored and has a damaged windshield.

Nearly two hours after the accident, the eastbound side of Atlantic Avenue was still blocked to traffic between Franklin and Bedford avenues.

Three police cars guarded the scene and cops were still interviewing potential witnesses.
