Ambulance Collides with Car on Bedford, Sending 4 to Hospital

Accident happened just before 5:30 p.m. at corner of Prospect Place; all injuries minor, officials said.

An ambulance and a car crashed this evening, sending four people to the hospital with minor injuries.

The accident happened at the intersection of Bedford Avenue and Prospect Place in Crown Heights just before 5:30 p.m. The two ambulance workers were ok, but two adults and two children in the car were taken to Woodhull Hospital with minor injuries, an FDNY spokeman said.

Bob Grant, 72, was sitting on his stoop when the accident happened.

"I heard something go bam. I looked up and (soon) there were ambulances and the Fire Department and then the police. I thought it was a bomb or something," he said.

This is the second time this week that an ambulance has been involved in an accident in Crown Heights. On Sunday at the intersection of Classon Avenue and Park Place, sending the U-Haul careening into four parked cars and then a building.
