After Crown Heights Assault, Suspects Sought For Hate Crime

Suspect punched Hasidic victim in the face and ran.

Police in Crown Heights are asking for the public's help in locating a group of suspects wanted for an assault classified as a hate crime last week.

On Nov. 10, a group of eight men were walking towards a 19-year-old Hasidic man on Kingston Avenue in Crown Heights. Without warning, one of the group punched the man in the face as they passed him on the sidewalk, then fled in the opposite direction.

The victim refused medical attention at the scene. Police released surveillance photos from the area of a number of the suspects in the group.

The incident is one of a number of events that led police to direct a hate crimes task force to the neighborhood for an ongoing investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477). The public can also submit tips at the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES) then enter TIP577.
