A large part of the wooded area on the south east portion of Prospect Park is being destroyed. It is for an ill conceived 'rustic playground' in the formally placid area behind the 'Vale'. This project has already destroyed a good part of Nelly's Lawn and threatens a large part of the natural park. This particular location for the project is particularly galling to birders and naturalists as it is known for birds and wildflowers. Word has it that park boss Emily Lloyd was pressured by political or other sources to pick this specific spot, in spite of the havoc it is doing to the park. The purpose of this temporary playground is to teach kids about nature. It is hypocritical to destroy so much of the natural park for something that's suppose to teach love of nature.
