Acclaimed Filmmaker Needs Help

Alrick Brown, NYU professor and celebrated filmmaker, is seeking community support for his latest film, My Manz, a feature film based on the novel written by JM Benjamin. The plot is about a young man born and raised in the Elmwood Garden Projects of Plainfield, NJ, where both Brown and Benjamin live.  The film will be shot almost entirely on location in Plainfield, NJ.

Brown earned his master's in education from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, as well as a master's degree in film from NYU, where he is a part-time film professor at the prestigious Tisch School of the Arts. Actors including Jaime Hector from HBO’s “The Wire”, Jasmine Guy from “A Different World” and Jamal Woolard from“Notorious” are attached to the project.
