5 Things: Dr. Who Costume Contest and Final Day of Phillip Glass' Einstein on the Beach

Prospect Heights-area alternate side, subway and event information you won't want to miss.

Today's photo is a detail of the 78th Precinct, which will include parts of Prospect Heights' beginning Tuesday.

1. You need Doctor Who! If you're a fan, partake with others at the Doctor Who Screening + Costume Contest @ The Way Station. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. 5 p.m. Free.

2. You need opera ... a Phillip Glass opera. Today is the last performance of the chilling and very creative Einstein on the Beach @ BAM, an opera by Robert Wilson and Philip Glass. As of last night, there were still a few tickets available, according to BAM's website. 651 Fulton St. 3 p.m. $40.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. If you have a preschooler, head to the Central Library for , a six-session series that begins today. The sessions include stories and activities designed to encourage the development of early learning skills. 10 Grand Army Plaza, 2:30 p.m. Free.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no subway changes affecting Prospect Heights stations today, according to the MTA.

5. ... and if you have to move your car.  Not today of course, but grab a Tues/Fri spot if you can, because the next alternate side suspensions are Wed., Sept. 26 for Yom Kippur (which doesn't help us) followed by Mon/Tues Oct. 1-2 for Succoth, according to the NYCDOT.
