Urgent bone marrow drive for NYPD 9/11 hero

Steve Bonano, the head of security at the Barclays Center, a Navy veteran and a 30-year veteran of the NYPD, is suffering from a rare form of 9/11 related blood cancer and is in need of a bone marrow transplant. To raise awareness about this disease — and to hopefully find a match to save Steve's life — Forest City Ratner is hosting a bone marrow registry drive this week, Tuesday and Wednesday May 7-8 from 8 am to 6 pm, at 345 Jay Street.

Steve has served our country and city in heroic fashion. He is a highly decorated member of the NYPD and worked at the World Trade Center site after 9/11. He has received the Police Combat Cross, the second-highest award in the NYPD, has been awarded for excellence in police duty 45 times and has been recognized by the City Council, State Assembly and Senate.
