Lily Virginia + Tim Haufe + Paul Staunton and the Charmers + Rocky and the Goldstein @ The Way Station

7pm-  Lily Virginia
Genre: Indie folk pop
For fans of: Sharon Van Etten, Bon Iver, Black Keys, Fleetwood Mac

Her delicately powerful voice and carefully crafted lyrics hold a strength in their raw vulnerability. With influences as varied as Fleetwood Mac to the Pixies, PJ Harvey to Bon Iver, Lily Virginia brings together americana, rock and pop to create an experience where each song can exists on its own. Raised in the wild hippie west of Northern California, Lily has lived a few different lives. From studying music in Argentina and Brazil, to a 7 year stint as a ninja, to love, heartbreak, and magic, she's carefully folded these experiences into her knapsack of songstories. She unpacked her bag 4 years ago in Brooklyn and has called NYC home ever since.

“Tim has all the qualities one looks for in a live performance: He is in tune with the elasticity of the crowd.  I could feel myself being drawn closer and closer to the music as the song went on.”-Daniel Dissinger, InStereoPress

9pm- Paul Staunton and the Charmers
Genre: Rock’N’Roll
For fans of: British Indie Rock, The Buzzcocks, The Jam, Lou Reed

While on vacation in Dublin in May 2010, New York drummer Michael Galante happened to meet Paul in a bar. While conversing about music Paul told Michael that he was moving to New York in September that year.  When Paul arrived in New York he and Michael had a few exchanged emails but had not managed to meet. One night Paul was in a bar in Manhattan and Michael just happened to walk by him. A simple tap on the shoulder from Paul and a friendship formed. As time went on Paul enjoyed going to see Michael play with his various bands in the City.

One going to see Michael play with his band ‘Felony Be Bop Club’ Paul met Shane Visbel, bass and vocals. Paul and Shane also became great friends. Shane is predominately a guitarist with his band ‘The Mercury Pills’. As time went by Paul approached Michael and Shane about playing together. They’ve played on a few projects and got on very well musically. Shane fancied trying out the bass and hence Paul Staunton and the Charmers were born.

“The serendipitous karma seems to follow The Charmers, the not-so-conspicuous name the band gave itself, perhaps in result of these accidental happenstances. To be exact, one by one, the three musicians literally discovered and re-discovered each other by accident at various musical venues until they saw the writing on the wall."- Mila Hover - http://www.examiner.com

“Paul’s songs are about interpersonal relationships that somehow always have more to do with nostalgia than with fulfillment. As a poet myself, I know so well from my own experience, yearning makes satisfaction. This may also be true for this singing poet.” - Michael A. Schmiedel -http://www.migrapolisdeutschland.de

Their songs contain biblical imagery, American values and the teachings of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Rocky and the Goldstein is currently working on their album, Easy Songs for Hard Times, while Isaac finishes his studies for rabbinical ordination.
