Julia Weldon/Derik Hultquist + Hoochie Coochie Men + Echo Bloom + Kagero +

7pm-  Julia Weldon/Derik Hultquist
Genre:  Indie-Folk Pop
For fans of:  Elliot Smith, Tegan & Sara, Iron & Wine

Light Is a Ghost is the follow up to self-taught Brooklyn indie-folk-pop artist Julia Weldon’s 2008 self-titled debut. Produced by Saul MacWilliams (Ingrid Michaelson, Dan Romer) and featuring Adam Christgau (Sia, Tegan and Sara) on drums, the album showcases Weldon’s storytelling, voice, and unmistakable charisma. Defined by its brash honesty, Light Is a Ghost is an American album in the truest sense. With an emotional resonance bigger than her own experience, Weldon tells the story of both the harsh city edges and limitless, open spaces. The album captures the feel of the open road on a late summer evening, while ruminating on past relationships that creep into that serenity.

"An almost perfect record." - NO Depression
“New York-based singer-songwriter Julia Weldon might be the most soulful singer you’ve never heard of.” -The Advocate
“One of the primary keys to being a good and successful singer/songwriter is the ability to be honest. Stories, emotional arcs, none of this means a thing if it’s clear the artist is just putting on airs for a given occasion, playing something because it might create a cynically predetermined effect on the audience. None of this ever feels like a problem for Julia Weldon.” -The Washington Times
“On her new record ‘Light Is a Ghost,’ singer-songwriter Julia Weldon acts as… every good dream that’s worth preserving after the alarm clock goes off.” -The Deli NYC

9pm- Echo Bloom
Genre: Folk
For fans of: Damien Rice, Sufjan Stevens

Echo Bloom is an orchestral folk group hailing from Brooklyn, NY.  Touring in support of their new album 'Blue', released May 14th, the group has been described as 'like Edward Hopper put to music - dark, sparse, and haunting'.

"It’s difficult to adequately describe the spectacular sound Kyle Evans manages to evoke under the moniker of Echo Bloom. Utilizing little more than a grouping of magnificent voices, and coupling them with barebones instrumentation, this ensemble offers proof positive that more can be done with less. Consequently Evans and company provide a stirring and soaring series of songs that can’t be defined by any word other than “awesome.” There’s a reverential quality that sweeps through the acapella opener “Annunciation” and continues to grace the eight tracks that follow. Credit this imaginative arranger with ensuring a subtle sound that emphasizes celestial harmonies, thoughtful melodies, a theatrical flair and high ambition. Clearly, originality is Evans’ strong suit, and with Blue he’s made a masterpiece." - Lee Zimmerman, No Depression

10pm- Kagero
Genre: Japanese Gypsy Rock
For fans of: Gogol Bordello meets David Bowie

Upbeat, folky pop songs with world music flavors, sung by a Japanese man with a British accent. Kagero’s sound is a melting pot of tonalities and rhythms from Asia, the Middle East, South America and Eastern Europe -- "Cultural Confusion". Sometimes the songs are beautiful imagery, sometimes sad folk tales, and sometimes silly songs about drinking. But the tunes are always fun, and the show is high energy dancing good time.

"Kagero’s world music goulash is very tasty -- even if you don’t always know what’s you’re eating."

“Rooted in uplifting elements from eclectic origins, "Japanese Gypsy Rock" unites Kagero’s musical influences and talents into a cross-culture dance party.”
