Institute for Senior Action Spring Semester Launch

Join us on March 6th for the official kick-off for the Institute for Senior Action (IFSA)’s spring semester. IFSA is a comprehensive education, leadership, and advocacy training program for older adults (50+) led by a variety of community leaders and political professionals. The program will teach students various tools on how to be socially engaged and turn their civic passion into an active reality.

Students will learn about key issues affecting life in New York City, ways to navigate the political system, essential public speaking techniques and the fundamentals of grassroots organizing. Highlighted classes include “Building an Age Friendly NYC”, “Senior Benefits and Entitlements”, and “Voting Rights and Care Giving for Alzheimer’s and Dementia”.

IFSA graduates stay involved in a variety of ways including meeting with legislators, organizing social action committees, creating issue-based advocacy campaigns, and highlighting senior issues in the media. Acceptance letters are sent upon review of the applications.
