Forge The Bell + Katie Mullins + Kelli Scarr @ The Way Station

Kelli Scarr Presents:
9pm- Forge The Bell

British born Joy Askew is "The versatile, accomplished singer songwriter widely recognised for her work alongside Joe Jackson, Laurie Anderson and Peter Gabriel…" She has played music in NYC for over 30 years. Her new venture Forge the Bell, with T Taylor on tenor sax is: not so much anarchitectured sound, as a few tree houses and interesting shapes on the ground.

10pm- Katie Mullins
Genre: Alternative Folk
Katie Mullins, a Brooklyn based singer/songwriter, plays music that has been affectionately described as, "twinkly and folkish," which might be owed to the fact that she alternately plays an mbira (an African thumb piano from Zimbabwe), a baritone ukelele, and various keyboards to accompany her voice, which she often loops and harmonizes with at her live shows.

11pm- Kelli Scarr

“Kelli has a voice that draws me closer to a song: it's too alluring to stay in the background but gentle enough that it never feels demanding...Kelli Scarr's new record, Dangling Teeth, is basically acountry record. There are still wisps of dreaminess, but she and her talented band are playing songs that sit well on my record shelf next to Neil Young's Harvest.”- Bob Boilen, NPR
