Christopher Reyne + Cody Melville +Kings County Ramblers + Out of System Transfer @ The Way Station

8pm- Christopher Reyne
Genre: Indie
For fans of: Radiohead, Death Cab for Cutie, the Beatles, Elliott Smith

Christopher Reyne is a New England-based singer and multi-instrumentalist with a clear vision of how he wants his compositions to make you feel. His recordings are lush, layered soundscapes with lyrics set to them that as Mod City put it, “feel like honest journal entries put to music.” When he takes them to the stage however, he strips them down and allows them to speak for themselves, exposing his songwriting and musical abilities completely. His debut album ‘A Stranger at the Wheel’, recorded and mixed over a span of two years in his studio apartment and mastered by Doug Van Sloun (Bright Eyes, She & Him, First Aid Kit), has received high praise from music lovers and critics alike.

“A Stranger at the Wheel is a brilliant collection of earnestness with dreamscaped sound design … a lush and textured painting set to music played with as much passion as one can give while spreading their soul across 10 tracks.” - Phillip James, The Vintage Decade (Oct 02, 2013)

“A Stranger at the Wheel has all the right nuts and bolts to construct an army, fitted for an orchestra. And lo-and-behold, Reyne does it all himself. A one-man band set on changing some standards, formulating a definite sugar coated mirage that made me want to believe that [Death Cab For Cutie's] Plans now has a corresponding cousin within reach. Do yourself a favor and take a listen to the work this man dedicated his last couple of years to.” - Kristen Fisher, The Equal Ground (Sept 04, 2013)

“Catchy yet dark at times, with chilling and powerful melodies and sounds, many of the tracks feel like honest journal entries put to music. Anyone who gravitates towards piano driven rock will find this record very appealing.” - Stephanie Noel, Mod City Magazine (Jul 19, 2013)

"Christopher Reyne weaves a sumptuous tapestry of inventive and affecting melodies; strong, emotive vocals; and artistry into his wonderful songs. I was entranced by what I heard. Songs like "The Notorious Kelly Monroe", "Prince Charming", "Glow (Know Your Soul)", "On a Limb" and "Permanently Night" are gloriously alive. Reyne’s songs are vital creations that need to be heard." - Alan Haber, Pure Pop Radio (Jun 15, 2013)

"Catchy pop-esque hooks and complex musical textures pair with Reyne's melodic voice to make it clear that this performer is dedicated to entertaining his listeners. The album has an emotional, musical and stylistic range that is ambitious and satisfying. It is clear that A Stranger at the Wheel captures what Christopher Reyne is; a driven entertainer and talented musician." - Joy Pearson, The Deli Magazine (Jun 01, 2013)

“Strong songwriting, great melodies and a definitive pop sensibility will always find a home somewhere, and Christopher Reyne is no exception. Make sure you give this guy a listen.” - Wildy, Wildy's World (Mar 13, 2013)

9pm- Cody Melville
Genre: Rock n'Roll
For fans of: Bowie, Lou Reed, Ian Hunter, Springsteen

Cody Melville is a singer/songwriter. He began playing and recording at 17 with the Plugs, a steady gigging and well-known punk/pop band.  He then followed with several bands including Pleasure Circuit, receiving regional airplay of an independently released record of the same name.  Subsequent to these projects he caught the ear of guitar-great/producer Mick Ronson who produced and co-wrote four tracks with him.  He has cut songs with Brain Ritchie of the Violent Femmes, hosted a Manhattan Cable television show called “New Folk Noise” and has released the albums “Cadillac Crown” and “Trade My Lonesome.”  He currently has a “smash-up” project teaming his melodies, lyrics, and voice to existing Link Wray recordings from 1958 call “54 Year Smash-up” and a brand new album of his own: “Downtown Angels”.

10pm-Kings County Ramblers

Bluegrass in Brooklyn!  It's a wonderful thing and the Ramblers are helping to keep the tradition moving forward. We're a scrappy group of pickers emerging on the Brooklyn scene. Playing a great style of music that brings together bluegrass, rag time, Americana and improvisational jamming. Everything from fast paced cookin with gas to slow eerie old timey numbers. The way music is supposed to be. A good time celebration with organic instruments; banjo, mandolin, acstc guitar and Bob the upright bass. Y'all Come!

Live shows with Out of System Transfer are an engaging mix of jangly punk, punchy brass, and crisp vocal harmonies, enjoyable for all who like dancing, yelling, and mayhem.
