Treats for Every Taste at Prospect Park 'Food Truck Rally' Sunday

From Korean barbecue to lobster rolls, restaurants-on-wheels will converge on Grand Army Plaza, offering up a foodie's delight.

Whether you crave guacahummus french fries or fried cheese,   or cupcakes, this Sunday, your wishes are likely to be fulfilled at Prospect Park's first ever Food Truck Rally at Grand Army Plaza.

Fees paid by the trucks will benefit the Prospect Park Alliance, which organized the event.

“It’s going to be a fun day. It’s going to be a tasty day,” said Prospect Park Alliance spokesman Eugene Patron.

Patron said the rally might lead to more frequent appearances of gourmet food trucks around the park, either at big events, such as the Halloween Carnival, or on regular weekend days at such locations as Grand Army Plaza, the Parade Grounds or Bartel-Pritchard Square.

“First, we believe it’s a great cause. Secondly we love our Brooklyn fans,” he said.

Asked why he thought gourmet food trucks have grown so popular in recent years, Kallman said, “Right now it’s a food truck phenomenon. … it’s basically bringing the best of food to people instead of people having to come to the food.”

 

The Food Truck Rally will take place from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Grand Army Plaza on Sunday, May 22.
