Tiny Pharmacy Takes On The Big Boys On Flatbush Avenue

Aptly named, Park Place Pharmacy is set to open next week.

The tiny storefront, wedged between the wine shop and a Chinese restaurant, will be selling hot coffee and cold drinks, along with its pharmacy.

With mom and pop shops closing all around, it's a pleasant surprise to see what appears to be an independent shop open on this strip of skyrocketing rents.

But with not one, but two, major pharmacies within a block of the place, will it last?

Could be, because it does offer something the big guys don't.

"It's more intimate," said one area resident who declined to give her name.

Another resident, Elias Edwards, said he didn't know whether the place would survive, but he was glad to see the new owners make the attempt.

"You've got to give it a shot," he said.
