Snowy and the 'Teddy Bears'

This edition of "adopt a pet" features a bare-eyed cockatoo and some hamsters.

We here at Prospect Heights Patch are animal lovers. That's why we've teamed up with to feature one dog and one cat that need a loving home each week. However, this week we're taking a different approach and featuring some of the other animals Sean Casey takes care of. If you think you would like to adopt either pet, call 718-436-5163 or stop by Sean Casey Animal Rescue, located at 153 East 3rd Street between Fort Hamilton Parkway and Caton Avenue.

This week our "" column features Snowy, a 1-year-2-month-old bare-eyed cockatoo, and a whole bunch of "teddy bear" hamsters.

Charles Henderson, Director of Operations at Sean Casey, said Snowy is a sweet bird, but it's "definitely for someone who knows birds, who understands birds." Snowy's adoption fee is $500, and she requires both a veterinary reference and three personal references.

Charles also recommends that people stop by and check out Sean Casey Animal Rescue's teddy bear hamsters, which he describes as "sweet and cuddly." Each hamster is $5. However, in order to prevent excessive breeding, you can only adopt hamsters of the same gender -- no exceptions.
