Richard Meier-designed Penthouse Sells for $5.1M

The sale is the most expensive in the building, but what else will $5 million buy you?

Richard Meier-designed On Prospect Park’s most expensive penthouse recently sold for $5.1 million, according to the New York Observer.

Unit 16S, a three-bedroom 3,500-square foot penthouse at 1 Grand Army Plaza, boasts terraces around the living room and kitchen, as well as a private roof terrace that overlooks Propsect Park, according to the article.

By comparison, for $5.1 million or less, you can also get a 10-bedroom, eight-bathroom, 11,000 sq/ft house in East Hampton ($4.99 million), a seven-bedroom, three-bathroom townhouse in Brookyn Heights ($4.5 million) —or a two-bedroom, two-bathroom, 1,817 sq/ft co-op in the West Village.

Brownstoner recently reported that the previous most expensive sale at 1 Grand Army Plaza was penthouse 16N for a reported $4.9 million.

According to the Observer, penthouse 16S was purchased by “KFRC Brooklyn LLC,” but Corcoran Sunshine listing broker Cheryl Nielson-Saaf would not reveal any details about who that might be.

The article mentions that Richard Meier on Prospect Park is now 75 percent occupied.
