Halloween Post-Sandy: What's Still Happening in Brooklyn

A round-up on the status of parades and other 2012 Halloween events for kids.

With the Park Slope Halloween Parade canceled and the Greenwich Village Parade postponed, what to do tonight with your Brooklyn brood? Here's a round-up of what's happening and what's been called off.

We will be updating the list throughout the day.

If you know of the status of a Brooklyn event we've left off, please add it in the comments.

Clinton Hill

The Brooklyn Halloween Show Happening

For the past decade, a group of Halloween lovers have organized a free outdoor show that includes such wacky sights as tag-team monster wrestling, Godzilla and King Kong duking it, a Mummy squaring off with the fabled Golem monster and Frankenstein's monster competing with Dracula and the Wolf man. The show is geared toward both kids and adults. 227 Waverly Ave (between Willoughby and DeKalb). Shows at 6:45, 7:30 and 8:15 p.m.

Clinton Hill Halloween Walk Happening

Pick up a map at the Pratt-Clinton Hill Community Garden, DeKalb at Hall St. between 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. and set off to see live Halloween drama in the streets (including the show above), and lavishly decorated homes.

Cobble Hill

Cobble Hill Halloween Parade Happening

This growing event takes place at Cobble Hill Park beginning at 4 p.m. and includes music by the Jah Pan Steel Drum Band.  Volunteers are needed to help set up at 9 a.m. or help clean up at 8:30 p.m.

Ditmas Park

Prospect Park South Halloween Parade — Canceled

Canceled due to lack of police availability

West Midwood Halloween Parade Happening, time changed to 4 p.m.

Gather at 4 p.m. by the dead end at Gleenwood and Rugby, and the parade will start at 4:30 p.m. Snacks and juice will be served; donations of both welcomed, especially because a higher turnout is expected this year. Quite a few houses on the streets near the Halloween route are usually decked out to the Halloween hilt as well.

Despite cancellations of parades, there were lots of kids, parents, adults, teens, in wonderful costumes all along Sterling Place, Underhill, Park Place, Prospect Place. Plenty of candy distributed by neighbors in costume, too. A fun evening for all.
