Frugal Family: Deals on Garden Accessories, Strollers, Toys and More

Sales, discounts, freebies and more around Prospect Heights.

We're all watching our family budgets these days. Whether shopping with coupons or looking for two-for-one deals, we're taking advantage of all sorts of offers and savings that help us stretch our dollars.

This column will be dedicated to giving you five great local deals each week that will help your family’s bottom line, and since we do the scouting for you, you can save time as well as money.

This week, Frugal Family scoured our local sources to come up with great deals on gardening accessories, strollers, toys and fine dining.

1. The Forest Floor; 659 Vanderbilt Avenue, between Park Place and Prospect Place

Deal: Check out their $5 table for deals on pots and garden accessories – remember, it’s officially spring now!

Good through: While supplies last.

 

2. Lulu’s For Baby, Lulu’s Cuts And Toys and Lulu’s Then And Now; various locations

Deal: Lulu’s For Baby (44 5th Avenue, between Bergen and Dean streets) is having a big sale on strollers, with such brands as Uppababy, Maclaren and Bugaboo. Lulu’s Cuts And Toys (48 5th Avenue, between Bergen and Dean streets) is also having a sale on dollhouses, Plan City toy sets and selected Lego’s.  And finally, Lulu’s Then And Now (75A 5th Avenue, between Prospect Place and St. Marks Avenue) has 20-30% off selected vintage and consignment items.

Good through: While supplies last.

 

3. Dine In Brooklyn Week; various local restaurants

Deal: $25 for dinner, $20.11 for lunch at local Prospect Heights eateries like James (605 Carlton Avenue, between Prospect Place and St. Marks Avenue) and Abigail Café and Wine Bar (807 Classon Avenue, between Lincoln Place and St. Johns Place).

Good through: March 31.

 

4. Hill Café; 17 Putnam Avenue, between Cambridge Place and Grand Avenue

Deal: It’s worth crossing Atlantic Avenue, when Restaurant.com has a gift certificate for sale for $25 worth of food for only $10 at this upscale French café. There is a minimum purchase of $35, and a 20% gratuity is added prior to discount. Valid for dinner only.

Good through: Indefinitely.

 

5. ; Fifth Avenue, from Dean Street to 18th Street.

Deal: Starting in our neck of Prospect Heights and spanning out into Park Slope, this sidewalk sale will feature special deals from local Fifth Avenue vendors and shops.

Good through: Saturday and Sunday only, starting at 10 a.m.
