Delores Gillespie’s Cat Has Found a Home!

Bubu, the gray cat left homeless after Gillespie's murder, has found a new home in Manhattan.

Bubu, in Prospect Heights after owner Delores Gillespie was brutally murdered in an Underhill Avenue elevator fire last month, has been adopted, according to Sharon Azar, who was fostering the cat.

Azar wrote to Patch to let us know that a woman who lives in downtown Manhattan with an older cat and two young sons “fell in love” with Bubu after seeing her photo online.

The adoption was arranged over the weekend, and the family plans on changing Bubu’s name to “Sweet Girl.”

The cat is a gray Maine Coon-mix, and was described in flyers that were posted around the neighborhood as “affectionate, pretty as a flower, soft as a cloud and sweet as sugar.”
