Computer Center Open at Central Library

A grant to improve Internet access helped make the new center possible.

On the heels of the announcement that the Brooklyn Public Library will receive a portion of a $5 million grant from the Carnegie Corporation, the Brooklyn Eagle reports today that Central Library has just opened it’s new computer center.

According to the Eagle, the center will help patrons with job searches, learn computer skills and assist with research. As a bonus, the center hopes to see fewer reservations, allowing for longer research and job hunting sessions.

The center was made possible by a $4 million grant from the Broadband Technologies Opportunities Program, a government initiative that aims to improve broadband access across the country.
