Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s New Hours, Special Tours

Winter hours begin on November 9, with free weekday admission and tours on weekends.

For patrons who brave the chill, is at its most beautiful when the leaves begin to burst with color, so fittingly, the BBG has announced new hours and tours for the season.

In order to maximize daylight, winter hours begin on November 9, with the garden open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. The garden is closed on Mondays, as well as for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Weekday admission to the Brooklyn Botanic Garden is free.

Garden tours are offered every Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m., and at 1 p.m. on the first Sunday of each month from November to March. Licensed psychotherapist and veteran garden guide Lynne Spevack will lead a special ‘Chase Away the Winter Blues’ tour. Each month’s tour features a seasonal topic, including falling leaves, texture and sound in the garden, and early-spring flowers. The tours will also teach visitors how to use sunlight to keep the blues at bay through the coming frosty days.

Also, on November 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., the BBG will hold a special children’s workshop inspired by the upcoming American Ballet Theatre production of The Nutcracker. The program is designed for children ages 5 through 12, and will include basic ballet instruction, along with an opportunity to participate in craft activities. Pre-registration is required.
