UPDATED: 5 Things You Need to Know Today: Tween Time, Park Volunteer Session, Punk Rock and Bad News on Late Night Q Train

Prospect Heights events and information you won't want to miss.

1. You need to start volunteering. What more pleasant way then in Prospect Park in the springtime. Today there's a Prospect Park Volunteer Info Session held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Litchfield Villa, 95 Prospect Park West.

2. You need a night out. How about some punk rock? If that's your thing, then head to , 702 Union St. at 5th Avenue in Park Slope to hear three groups, t. 7:30 p.m. $8. Note that you must be 21 or older to attend.

3. You need to get your tween to the library. Send them to  to play games, listen to music, or just hang out with their friends. , Youth Wing, 4-5 p.m., 8-12 years, Free.

4. You need to get the kids out of the house. There's no Babies and Books at the Brooklyn Public Library this week, but luckily today there's  for kids 5 and under at the  11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., ages 5 and under, Free with admission of $7.50 per person.

5. You need to know if your train is running, and if you have to move your car. No and yes. It turns out that the Q Train track work is continuing this week, so between midnight and 5 a.m. you're dropped off at the N platform at Pacific and then you have to walk to the Q platfrom at Atlantic to catch the continuing train (which could take up to 30 minutes to come, though they try to coordinate them). The  MTA website, doesn't have this information (leading to an incorrect post this morning) but I just spoke to them and they confirmed the work is continuing through Friday morning (sorry). And yes, you'll be moving your car just about every weekday for awhile, because alternate side won't be suspended again until Passover on April 19-20, according to the NYC DOT.
