5 Things You Need to Know Today: Q-Train Still Troubled, Moth Story Slam, Teen Book Club, More

Prospect Heights information and events you won't want to miss.

1. You need to know if your train is running. For Q-train riders, it's better than it was over the weekend, but from midnight to 5 a.m., all week, they're doing that awful thing where you have to switch Q trains from the N platform to the Q platform and then trains only run every 30 minutes, according to the MTA website (which has a schedule of train departures.) My advice: walk or take the 2 or 4 to and from Atlantic if you can. Note that the continues March 12-13 and 19-20. Alternate side is in effect today, according to the NYC DOT.

2. You need to laugh (and maybe cry). Luckily tonight is the monthly meeting of , the funny quirky open mic story hour of "This American Life" fame. It fills up quickly, so get there early. , 125 5th Ave., Park Slope. 7:30 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. With many venues closed, Monday is always a good day to head to the , where kids can meet , a deer with a mohawk, the giant rabbit, and others. See our for the week.

You could try sending them to the Central Library's . At this montly event, teens choose from a collection of newly-published or not-yet-published young adult novels to review and discuss for the following month. Bring a written review of the book and you might get pubished on BPL's "Good Reads" web page! , Youth Wing, 4-5:15 p.m., 12-18 years, Free.
