5 Things: Morrissey at BAM and WNYC's MLK Celebration at Brooklyn Museum

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. Revive with music. Head to The Way Station to hear Denise Barbarita and the Activation Trio. The former offers powerful, "hypnotic" vocals and the latter, is a trio that uses a cajon, upright bass, acoustic guitar and their three voices to offer an intimate sound. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect, 8 p.m. No cover.

1. Reserve your spot. In honor of the life of Martin Luther King, WNYC’s Brian Lehrer and journalist Farai Chidaya host an afternoon of discussion and staged readings inspired by the play, “Malcolm, Martin and Medgar,” an imagined reunion of the slain civil rights icons at the Brooklyn Museum. The event is free, but you have to reserve your spot at WNYC's site. Sunday Jan. 20, 3 to 5 p.m. It might seem a long way off, but tickets are going fast.

2. Relive your youth. Morrissey (the singer, not the Egyption president) will perform hits from his days with the Smiths at BAM on Friday night. There are tickets left, but only in the orchestra, which will cost you $89.50. More info here.

3. Help the Sandy-flooded Norton Records. The company's warehouse was devastated by flooding in the storm. So head to The Bell House on Friday for a benefit concert with the Memphis rock of Reigning Sound and energetic old-time rock of The Swingin' Neckbreakers. Show at 8:30. Doors open at 7:30. $15. More info here

5. Move the car. Sorry folks, alternate side parking rules are in effect today. The next suspension isn't until Monday, Jan. 21 for MLK Day, according to the NYCDOT
