As the Neighborhood Grows, Elberta Grows With It

Elberta Restaurant on Flatbush Avenue is a local gem for unique foods and sophisticated wines. Visit the restaurant for a tasting event!

Once upon a time there was a restaurant named Velvet Peach, and everyone went there for coffee or a sandwich.  It was a great little cafe for a quiet little neighborhood.  Then Prospect Heights began a quiet growth, following the growth of nearby neighborhoods, but keeping small businesses and allowing residents to still feel the neighborhood.

This is when the Velvet Peach became Elberta.  Just as Elberta is a type of peach, the restaurant hired two new chefs, Jeremie and Kingsley, who make some of the same foods, but also have grown beyond those foods.  These days, Brooklynites will find some of the restaurant's trademark southern foods, and also healthy roasted roots, octopus, goat ravioli, and delicious lobster roll, to name a few new sophisticated items.

In tangent with this culinary evolution, Elberta is developing a new wine list to match its menu items.  Along with some American wines to match the southern food, diners will see a selection of wines from Italy and Argentina that match the flavor of Elberta's new menu items.

To familiarize Brooklynites with Elberta's growth, Elberta is offering a wine pairing & tasting event on alternate Wednesday nights, starting on April 24.  In this event, for $50, diners will be walked through a 3-course meal of unique menu items and learn why certain wines pair well with these foods.  People interesting in attending the tasting events, or learning more about them, can go to: www.elberta.com and visit the events tab.

Get outside the routine and discover the slice of variety and flavor outside your front door!
