Vanderbilt Avenue's New Sushi Restaurant Slated to Open Next Week

Inaka will serve Japanese food, and perhaps some Thai down the line, owners say.

Editor's Note, March 6, 3:37 p.m.: Gao let us know that the restaurant opening may be delayed another week or two due to a delay in getting gas service.

Gao and Li, who are married and live in Sunset Park, both hail from China, and are considering adding some Chinese options as well, but the menu will be primarily Japanese, Gao said.

The couple comes to Prospect Heights with hefty restaurant experience. They owned  in Park Slope for seven years, but sold it a few months ago after their co-owner decided to put his share on the market. They have also owned Mizu in Williamsburg for the past five years.

Gao said they're still working on the menu, but one thing that will be on it is their Black Cod with Miso Sauce, which had been a Mura favorite.

Inaka will seat 30 people including some outdoor tables in the back garden. In addition to the food, the restaurant will serve wine and beer, but not hard alcohol.

It will offer take-out and delivery to anywhere within about 15 minutes by car, Gao said.
