The Saint Catherine Opens on Washington

  A new bar and soon-to-be cafe has opened on Washington Avenue. Called The Saint Catherine, the shop at the corner of Bergen Street aims to offer a "casual neighborhood vibe," said Bradford Nicoll, who is opening the shop with Sara Williams, co-owner of the Manhattan cafe/bar Fresh Salt. "We're not trying to have a bigger beer list or make fancier cocktails than anyone else, we just want to be a go-to spot to meet your friends and hang out, because you know we'll be able to have something for everyone," Nicoli said over e-mail. Currently the bar is open only at night (4 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. other days.) Eventually the bar will be a cafe during the day offering weekend brunch and "unpretentious comfort food" such as mac and cheese, soup and sandwiches,  "with a focus on fresh, local ingredients," according to Nicoli.  Has anyone checked it out yet?  The Saint Catherine is located at 660 Washington Ave. at Bergen. (347) 663-9316.
