Stocked Opens—and Closes—Wednesday

Owners hope to reopen Thursday following an opening-day power failure.

Stocked, Vanderbilt Avenue's new gourmet cafe, had a great opening today—until the power went out.

The cafe, located at 635 Vanderbilt Ave. between Prospect and St. Marks, did brisk business between 8 a.m. and about 3 p.m. and then the lights went out, said Matt Fulton, who owns the shop with business partner Joanna Knollmueller.

The problem was a failure in a cable leading to the cafe and Fulton expects to re-open either Thursday or Friday.

On the menu are variety of sandwiches, plus entrees, sides, salads and sauces for residents to grab on their way home.

In having problems on opening day, Stocked is in good company. Four days after opening, Ample Hills Creamery ran out of ice cream and had to close for more than a week while they made more.
