Booze-Infused Food in Prospect Heights

Love rum and beer? Try it in your food, without leaving the neighborhood.

Culture web site Joonbug shouts out six New York City restaurants were you can get booze-infused grub, and two just so happen to be right here in Prospect Heights.

Infusing food with liquor, wine or booze gives it a special kick, and if you’re curious, try out one of these local spots:

For rum-lovers, Flatbush Avenue’s Sugarcane offers true Caribbean flavors with their Heritage Stew Chicken, cooked with brown sugar, Old Oak rum from Trinidad and Tobago, and Spanish thyme, says Joonbug.

Beer-infused food (like beer-battered onion rings and fish and chips) is pretty much everywhere, but according to Joonbug, on Vanderbilt Avenue is doing something a little more interesting. Their Tumeric Beer-Battered Barramundi filet is infused with Foster’s beer and served with dill over a bed of vermicelli noodles – an Australian touch to Asian fusion.

Have some other booze-infused favorites in the neighborhood? Let us know in the comments.
