The Winey Neighbor to Host a Taste of Prospect Heights

Washington Avenue's new wine shop will host the first of a series of events, bringing together a selection of the neighborhood's culinary offerings.

, that opened last month on Washington Avenue, will host a “grand tasting” event next Saturday, January 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. The event aims to celebrate some of the edible things that Prospect Heights has to offer, from , and Chocolate Earth’s sweets, as well as , vegan treats from , BBQ from Soul Sister Quisine, and cheeses from Wannabemonger. The Winey Neighbor will offer tastings of six different wines as well.

The event is free and open to the public.

Winey Neighbor owners (and husband and wife duo) Kenneth Hung and Young Jung came up with the idea for the “grand tasting,” when Jung was walking her dog around the neighborhood and taking note of all of the local culinary offerings.

“I love my neighborhood and I want to contribute by hosting great events like this to make our community more dynamic,” Jung said. “Prospect Heights and Crown Heights are known for cultural diversity and I want to create an event that reflects this beautiful harmony.”

The Winey Neighbor is located at 679 Washington Ave., between Prospect Place and St. Marks Avenue.
