Where to Go With the Kids: July 4 - 10

Every week we will give you the lowdown on kids events in Prospect Heights as well a selection from Crown Heights, Park Slope, Fort Greene and Boerum Hill.

Monday, July 4

 Learn more about the role the bald eagle has played in shaping our nation’s identity through a panel exhibit and fun nature craft. The Audubon Center at the Boathouse (just inside the Lincoln Road/Ocean Ave. entrance to Prospect Park), 1-3 p.m., Free.

Tuesday, July 5

 Enjoy intriguing books for babies, learn exciting songs and rhymes, and meet other families in the neighborhood at this fun program. , Youth Wing, 10 a.m., 10:30 a.m., and 11 a.m., 18 months and under, Free.

 Every Tuesday morning, Habana Outpost becomes a playspace, and a teacher will run an arts and crafts project. All are welcome! , 757 Fulton St, 10 a.m., all ages, Free.

 Once a month, teens choose from an eclectic collection of newly-published or as-yet-published young adult novels to review and discuss for the following month. Bring in a written, 1-2 paragraphs review of the book you picked for the following month. Prospect Park Carousel Prospect Park's legendary Carousel is fun for both kids and adults. Prospect Park, Children’s Corner (just inside the Willink entrance to the Park, at Ocean and Flatbush Avenues and Empire Boulevard), 12-5 p.m., all ages, $2/ride ($9/book of 5 tickets).

New York Transit Museum Performances All aboard for a journey to the past! Take a trip back in time with a performer on one of the Transit Museum’s vintage subway or elevated train cars. Each week a different character brings transit history to life with an interactive performance. New York Transit Museum, 130 Livingston Street, 10th Floor, 1:30 p.m., ages 5+, Free with museum admission ($6 adults/$4 kids and seniors).

 Explore paint, crayons, oil pastels, collage materials, air-dry clay and recycled sculpture in this process-oriented art class.  Each class will feature a unique theme, which all three main activities will focus on. , 283 Grand Ave, ages 2-4, 9-9:45 a.m., $25/drop-in (pre-registration is required).

Fantastic Fans People all around the world use fans to escape the summer heat. Explore an array of fans from the museum’s collection and learn about this ancient form of air conditioning! Decorate your own fan to take home and keep cool. Every friday this summer, Brooklyn Children's Museum opens its doors free of admission. This week, celebrate with Irene Koloseus's Feraba: African Rhythm Tap as they introduce the swinging syncopated sounds of tap dance set to the propulsive rhythms of African drums and percussion.  , 6:30 p.m., all ages, Free.

 Visit the Totally Tots Art Studio at Brooklyn Children’s Museum and discover all the activites that are in store for your young Picasso.
