It's cold and crummy outside, but there are plenty of interesting weekend activities guaranteed to help you chase away the winter blues.

The Best of Punk Magazine Launch Party
When/Where: Friday, Jan. 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. at Powerhouse Arena, located at 37 Main St. in DUMBO
Why Go: Celebrate the long and infamous history of punk rock with John Holmstrom, co-founder of the legendary Punk Magazine and author of a new anthology aptly titled "The Best of Punk Magazine." Drinks will be served, skulls may or may not be smashed. Special guests are promised to abound.

Hajitek Majitek: Stories and Music from Morocco
When/Where: Saturday, Jan. 12 at 11 a.m. at P.S. 230 Multimedia Room (lower school), located at 425 McDonald Ave.
Why Go: Want to hear the stories and music of Marrakesh without ponying up the cash for a plane ticket? Head to P.S. 230 on Saturday for an afternoon of traditional costumes, music, folklore and crafts. The program is open to all ages.
Cost: $2 suggested donation
When/Where: Saturday, Jan. 12 starting at 10:30 a.m. at BookCourt, located at 163 Court St.
Why Go: If a mile-long march isn't your speed (see below), you can still help victims of Sandy the high-brow way. Listen to your favorite local authors, including Jennifer Cody Epstein, Emma Straub and Jonathan Ames, read excerpts of their work throughout the day. Fifteen percent of all proceeds will be donated to Sandy relief efforts.

Walk A Mile in Our Shoes: Solidarity Walk for Hurricane Sandy
When/Where: Sunday, Jan. 13 at 1:30 p.m. at West 37th St. and Canal Avenue in Coney Island
Why Go: Walk a mile along Coney Island's Surf Avenue and raise awareness for victims still suffering from the damage wrought by Sandy.

Why Go: If you live in Brooklyn, you probably have a turntable. What better way to pass a cold winter Sunday than riffling through bins of vintage vinyl? All proceeds will benefit WFMU in its post-Hurricane Sandy Recovery.
