Why Go: Celebrate the launch of Nick Bertozzi's black-and-white graphic novel "Lewis & Clark." The tale depicts the adventurous and often hilarious journey of the two American pioneers. All ages are welcome, and refreshments will be served.

Why Go: Soul singer Avery Sunshine has a remarkable voice. With roots in Southern gospel, Sunshine has entertained President Obama, performed on the soundtrack to The Fighting Temptations, graced Tyler Perry stage productions, and more. For BAMcafé Live, she’ll perform tracks from her self-titled debut album.

Why Go: The renown St. Luke's will play a landmark arrangement of Scarlatti's Concerto No. 9; Bach's Concerto for Oboe and Violin, reclaimed from a long-lost original score; and the premiere of a new work by Phil Kline inspired by a composition from the Late Renaissance master Giovanni Gabrieli.

Why Go: Psychologist Adam Phillips will examine "the theatricality of madness" across ages and cultures as represented in "The Diary of a Madman," "King Lear," and "Macbeth"— three plays performed at BAM this spring. Phillips has written over a dozen books, including "Going Sane" and, most recently, "The Concise Dictionary of Dress" (with Judith Clark), as well as "On Balance."

Why Go: This discussion led by historian Horace G. Campbell and journalist Carina Ray will look at W.E.B. Du Bois's efforts to realize African unity and consider the relevance of this idea of Pan-Africanism today.
