5 Things: Comedy at LaunchPad and Sing-Along at Dean Street

Plus Elberta's 1-year anniversary celebration, beer brewing for beginners and today's alternate side information.


1. Celebrate a year of Elberta. The Flatbush Avenue restaurant and bar is turning 1, and they're celebrating in style. So head over to Elberta's Customer Appreciation Celebration tonight where there will be live music, drink and appetizer specials. Music artist Res will be spinning on the 1's and 2's starting at 11 p.m.  335 Flatbush Ave. bet. Park and Prospect, 5 p.m. to 2 a.m. No cover.

2. Make it up as you go. Start the holiday with some improve comedy at LaunchPad's Best Friends Thread. 721 Franklin Ave. bet. Park and Sterling. 8 p.m. $5 suggested donation. 

3. Show the kids a good time. Take the kids to Dean Street for a sing-along with Hopalong Andrew. Corner of Dean and Underhill, 10:30 a.m. $5 per family. 

4. Learn something new. You're sticking around this weekend. You love beer. Make the weekend special by attending Brewshop 101: Homebrewing Essentials, where you'll learn everything you know to brew beer at home. The class is on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Bitter & Esters, 600 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect. $55. More info and tickets here

5. Move the car. Alternate side parking rules are in effect today, but are suspended July 4, according to the NYC DOT.
