Family Workshop: Antonio Masi @ New York Transit Museum

Visitors of all ages are invited to witness art in the making at the New York Transit Museum’s live demonstration on Saturday, August 4.

Artist Antonio Masi, whose work is featured in the Museum’s newest exhibit, “The Golden Age of Bridges,” will demonstrate how he paints, and discuss his unique watercolor technique.  Masi’s specific technique is often distinguished by his anomalous use of watercolor, generally considered a light and airy medium in contrast with the thick and heavy steel of his subjects. He combines the traditional use of watercolor’s thin washes with a much thicker use of the paint to achieve the heavy, weighted mass of the bridge.

Following the 45 minute-long demonstration, children ages 6 and above and their parents are invited to paint a bridge of their own in a family workshop in the Museum’s Education Center.
