5 Things You Need to Know Today: Alternate Side Resumes, Free Art, Comedy and More

UPDATE, 4:24 p.m.:  The city has decided to suspend alternate side parking tomorrow, according to the 311 Web site.

1-You need to know if you have to dig out your car. You do. Alternate side of the street parking will be in effect on Monday, according to 311.

2-You need to know when the garbage will be picked up. Garbage collection resumes Monday, so put those bags out tonight. Recycling, however, remains suspended, according to 311.

3- You need somewhere to take the kids. The Brooklyn Children's Museum has a string of events from 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. including a sing-a-long with Frosty the Snowman, a dance-a-long in Spanish celebrating Three Kings Day, and an "Excavation Station" where kids get to dig up real bones and other treasures for ages 5 and up.

4- You need culture. Take a stroll to the , because admission is free all day. The Museum will be open today from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Feel like making art? There are art classes at the museum at 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Meet in the Rubin Lobby on the first floor.
