5 Things: Make Music New York Comes to Brooklyn

Plus a free stage reading and $6 comedy night.

1. Make Music NY, Launchpad Style. Check out 10 free hours of musical performances in one place – including a man who raps Shakespeare and Toys and Tiny Instruments, a seven-person experimental folk rock band. First show starts at 1 p.m., 721 Franklin Ave.

2. Free Stage Reading. See Jan O’Connor’s The Girl Who Would Be King, about a girl in medieval times raised secretly as a boy in order to become king. Starts at 7 p.m. Suggested donation is $10. RSVP at reservations@norasplayhouse.org.

3. One Night Only. Comedian and blogger Greg Johnson will perform at Union Hall tonight for $6. The show will also feature Larry Murphy (Bob’s Burgers), Tom McCaffrey (Comedy Central) and Phil Hanley (The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson). Johnson’s last show sold out, so purchase tickets online.

4. Five Hours of Free Music. Tonight’s edition of Brooklyn Academy of Music’s FAB Fridays in June presents five acts – among them the quartet Pillow Theory, curated by BAM. First show starts at 3 p.m.

5. Move your car. DOT’s alternate side parking rules are in effect.
