5 Things: Drag Queen Trivia, Drinking for Equality and Text-Based Hilarity

Prospect Heights-area information and events you won't want to miss.

1. Drink for equality. Join HRC in Brooklyn at the Branded Saloon for a happy hour that mixes music and drink specials with a dynamic Drag Queen trivia show. Doors open at 7. $10 door fee includes HRC membership. All proceeds go towards the work for equality. 603 Vanderbilt Ave.

2. See Haiti from below.
Tonight there's a book talk and signing for “Haiti from Below” book talk & signing with Nathalie Brunet. The book shows underwater life along the northern coast of Haiti in over 100 photos with the goal of promoting sustainable development. Thursday, April 18th, from 6-9pm with the discussion begining at 7pm. Light Refreshments will be served. FiveMyles Gallery, 558 St Johns Place. Free but with a $10 suggested donation. Seating is limited, please RSVP to RSVP@haiticulturalx.org

3. Guffaw with friends. On the third Thursday of every month, comedian and author Bob Powers (Happy Cruelty Day) hosts "Steamboat!" a lineup of the city's best humor writers offering text-based hilarity at Greenlight Bookstore. Some of tonight's funny folks include Mike Lacher and Pete Reynolds. 7:30 p.m. Free.

4. Let your soul glow. Tomorrow tickets go on sale for Electric Soul Circus, a Brooklyn hip-hop soul fest taking place at Barclays Center on May 31, featuring the likes of CeeLo Green, Busta Rhymes, Goodie Mob, Skylar Grey, and more. (Bonus points to anyone who knows what movie I'm referencing in the subhead.)

5. Look for a spot. Alternate side parking is in effect.
